Crap basic design aside, I've bought five universal remotes in the last few years, and these are a couple of the traps for the unwary:- Even if there happens to be enough buttons to cover most of the functions you're hoping to replicate, on the el-cheapo remotes - like this one and the other slightly better Aldi one I own, unless you can find a code that works out of the booklets supplied - no mean feat in the case of the Aldi's in my experience, you can use up the tiny memory in these things on far fewer devices than you were hoping to control. The LCD screen is also the most unreadable I've ever encountered. At this price it's kind of a throwaway item, which is effectively what I've with the one I own If you've got an old TV in a spare room that rarely gets used this'll do as a rep remote, but hopefully you won't need to use the menu toggle very much. Code List here, but it's dated 2006: - but the remote can learn other codes anyway. 2-lines LCD-Display for date, clock(12/24hrs) and selected mode I think these were sold at Aldi for $10 on clearance.
